Hey Doc. I'd like to get your opinion on something. I adopted Cole a few months ago. He's finally starting to play with Cooper, but he's just terrified of Chloe. She chases him all over the house and he doesn't find it amusing. He has recently started urinating in different rooms of the house. And it's only upstairs, which is where Chloe chases him. He doesn't do it all the time, just once in a while. Most days he uses a litter box with no problems. He doesn't seem to be in any pain and nothing else seems abnormal. My completely uneducated opinion is that it's most likely a behavioral issue, or should I say a Chloe issue, and not medical. But I wanted to ask your opinion. Should I bring him in for you to check out?

If you think it's behavioral, do you have any suggestions on how to break him of this? We're going to do a very thorough cleaning of the rooms this weekend (using a black light & a gallon of Nature's Miracle!) to make sure we've got all the spots. I was thinking about picking up some Feliway for the rooms. Does that stuff really work? I'm also going to buy another litter box to put in my closet and possibly one more for the office. Those are both places he likes to go. Other than that, I don't know what to do. Do you think it will work? Thanks!

Ann -
Inappropriate urination is difficult in cats because it can start as a medical problem and turn into a behavioral problem. It sounds like you are cleaning up good. That's a start. As for Feliway - yes it helps when social stress is a factor - which in your case is likely.

That's my short answer - call me if you aren't having success.
